MoSi2 heating element is a type of resistance heating element composed of high purity Molybdenum Disilicide. When heated to a high temperature in an oxidizing atmosphere, a layer of compact quartz glass forms on the surface of the element which withstands oxidation. In an oxidizing atmosphere, its maximum temperature can reach 1850℃, and its applicable temperature is 500~1750℃. MoSi2 heater can be widely used as heating elements in high temperature furnaces for a variety of industries including ceramics, magnets, glass, metallurgy, refractory and many others. We named our MoSi2 heating elements as HT Super.
HT Super 1900 is the latest super quality element researched and developed by us, which adopts high purity Molybdenum and Silicon powder and with whole process anti-oxidation. HT Super 1900 has the advantages of higher service temperature, and higher tensile strength. Its maximum service temperature is 1850℃ and it can sustain furnace temperatures of 1800℃. Chemical Properties of molybdenum disilicide heating elements
MoSi2 Heating Element has the ability to withstand oxidation at high temperatures. This is due to the formation of a thin and adhesive protective layer of quartz glass (SiO2) on the surface. When the element temperature over 1700℃, SiO2 protective layer which melting point is 1710℃ was fused, and because of the surface tension, it fused into drops, which is useless. However, when MoSi2 heater continue working in oxidizing atmospheres, the SiO2 protective layer is spontaneously rebuilt.
Notice: It is not good to use Molybdenum Disilicide Heating Element for Long-term within a range of 400-700℃, otherwise the element will be powdered by the strong low temperature oxidation.
